Training and Credentials
Somatic Massage: Malia graduated as a Global Somatics Practitioner in 2011. This two-year, 1400-hour training program was developed by the late Suzanne River through the Green River Dance for Global Somatics in Minneapolis, MN. This training included cellular communication, embodied anatomy, multiple modalities of bodywork, energy-work, and movement therapy.
Malia is a certified Eternal Spring Chi Kung Instructor (2015) through CK Chu School of Tai Chi in New York City, NY.
People’s Movement Center (PMC): From 2015-2019, Malia was a member of People’s Movement Center (PMC), a healing justice center for Queer, Trans, and BIPOC communities. She taught weekly Eternal Spring Chi Kung Classes, offered Somatic Massage Therapy sessions, and co-coordinated PMC’s “Collective Bodywork Days” and “Wellness Weekends” as fundraisers and community-building events.
Malia received training through a 9-month Reproductive Justice and Abdominal Massage Apprenticeship in 2021 with Ihotu Ali.
Oshun Center and Cedar Room Collective: In June 2022, Malia and Ihotu Ali co-founded the clinic for The Oshun Center for Intercultural Healing, located at Family Tree Clinic in Minneapolis, MN. In July 2025, Malia branched out into Cedar Room Collective with rowan emmanuel and Anna Meyer. Cedar Room is also located at Family Tree Clinic, where she currently practices Somatic Massage and Eternal Spring Chi Kung.
My experiences as an Artist: Connection to intuition crosses many modalities fluidly. My practices in Butoh / Authentic Movement, Somatic Storytelling, Music improvisation, Contact Improv dance, visual art and performance experiences blend into my bodywork methods; often enabling me to sense unspoken signals and tap into other awarenesses.
